I'm rather enjoying the series. I'm pretty familiar with most of the books. Are there deviations? Sure. Some I like and others I'm still reserving judgment on or even am not a big fan of. But I think it's mostly there. The first episode I feel like the direction/writing wasn't great and the acting felt kinda off but it improved a lot.
