Great cast a location that looks interesting - then a banal storyline that's painted up as something fresh and original. This movie lacks purpose, compelling to watch characters - who all by the way love the F word in just about every sentence - including the children - one of whom is 13. Not a good investment of two hours of your life. Promises...fails to deliver, then trips you up and pokes fun at you. So disappointing.

I made the mistake of actually buying the DVD. Now I need to check out Ebay. A disappointing movie from a master story teller whose joint script here has no decent plot or structure. What happened?? Mr. Spielberg - had this been someone else's script... you would have binned it. Such a shame. And so boring saved only by good cinematography in places and some delightful scenes and good acting... but so what if there's no story? The people who give this more than 3 stars are leading the rest of us down the garden path....sadly. The the ending! (What ending?).

A thought provoking imaginative work of movie art with a totally original and bold x 10 approach, though I like to watch movies for entertainment and this one puts me in a Movie Appreciation masterclass instead where the need for constant attention made me also think about the location of my bottle of aspirins.

The poster draws you in... could this be a kind of Twilight on steroids? No such luck. All expectations soon dashed before we even get to any form of inciting incident. I can't believe this movie was funded - and will they even get their investment back? If it wasn't for George Mackay, this would be some kind of joke. Alas it was written with deadly serious intent. So disappointing when the premise and potential was five stars.

Should be one star, but two awarded because the premise could have been amazing. This poorly executed story which confuses rather than convinces tries to her clever but is simply pretentious. perhaps because it's based on a book... probably works well as a novel but as a screenplay dies a death 4 times over.

I had one of two options this week end. Barbie or Oppenheimer. I chose Oppenheimer and regretted it. A well made movie in many ways except the basics. A more likeable protagonist, an emotion-rich storyline with better character arcs and less screen time... 3 hours is far too long. I think you're supposed to like this documentary, sorry, movie. I didn't.... and fell asleep at one point. The hype, which is commonly the case with big so called blockbusters did not deliver. The best thing about it was the trailer.
