The story was good and interesting but the characters and plot were not built well. The characters felt very flat and one dimensional. There is no build up and the twists are really predictable. The writing is too simple and it does not let the readers feel any real emotion. One of the main twists or betrayals meant nothing to me because I couldn't care less for the characters. The idea of the book was good the execution is terrible. However there is potential in the story and space for Deepak Thomas to improve. Not thrilled for the second book but might pick it up. 1.5 or 2 stars out 5!
