I'm a mad Stephen King fan, have been all my life. But unlike so many of the reviewers out there who seem to feel obligated to fawn over his works just because it's...Stephen King...I don't feel that way. Most likely it's because these days I very seldom get a chance to relax and read, so I value my reading time and get irritated when I feel it's been wasted.
I don't want to risk giving spoilers, but suffice to say 'Billy Summers' has a number of dodgy (or should I say 'dubious') plot holes, the overly drawn-out intro reminded me of Dean Koontz on his worst writing days of irritating padding to try and fill pages, and the climax of the story....
Well, there wasn't one. At least nothing like Stephen King used to deliver. It's not the worst book I've ever read, but it's a far cry from the brilliance that Stephen King used to deliver.
