A lovely cautionary tale about hacking, greed, and A.I. city services.
I picked up "Unseen" at our library (in the new books display) on a whim... thinking it was about AI. And it is but the true focus is on a group of Gifted people who, individually, are super sensitive to... something; eg, empathy, plants, spatial location, and, my favorite, birds. The books title has a dual meaning: a growing complacency (mostly good) on a city's dependency on AI control on city services AND the background efforts of the Gifted band together to save the city.
Ms Hird does a wonderful job of fully describing Gifted's lives and worries. With Hird's breezing writing style, Unseen is a lovely read.
