If you are worrying about whether Dakota Fanning is under used or not you are wasting your time watching this film. It's an action movie with the central character already well delineated. This isn't some overly long Tom Cruise ego wank of a film, it's slick and to the point and the understatement of Washington's portrayal or Robert McCall is the antimatter to Cruise's Ethan Hunt.
