warm, urbane, sensual, strong mid90s rnb influence. not as wave-making as, say, a d'angelo record, but definitely more than serviceable. finishes with a monster radio banger best thought of as reverse of previous album Erotica: warmth and intimacy you can play at your mother's house vs. Erotica's cold, callous, sleazy hotel lounge vibe. exceptions to that generalizing description being BS's track 6 Human Nature, which could belong on Erotica, while Erotica's track 10 Rain could belong on BS, maybe after track 09 Sanctuary highlights: take a bow (top track), inside of me, secret, bedtime story (interesting instrumentation, especially for its time)
