Must not watch expecting it’ll be the same as the animation. The style is more chinese martial arts. It is similar to movies such as forbidden kingdom and other asian dramas with fighting, strong cultural practices and strong cultural beliefs. The witch mentioned by many pre-viewing is not the ideal western witch but the type of witch that is commonly seen in asian dramas. The spiritual guide is indeed not mushu the african american dragon. It is a phoenix that is somewhat more fine tuned to be accurate to the cultural and spiritual practices and beliefs. I personally enjoyed the movie. Though I don’t think I was in awe. It’s still difficult to watch the movie without comparing it to the animation. However, in order to watch it and enjoy it, you must see it from the narrator’s perspective. I.e believed to be the emperor.
