Teddy Long – Google

Right after I bought a ticket at the movies for Ad Astra, one of the employees told me that it was “better than Interstellar”. And since Interstellar is one of my favorite movies ever, I got extremely pumped for a high action, visually stunning, and deeply emotional movie. For most of the movie, it was anything but. Yes, the visuals at certain scenes were very compelling and had that “WOW” factor, but the talking scenes were EXTREMELY slow and dragged on. I love Brad Pitt, but this was FAR from his best role. He seemed to overact in certain parts that didn’t require it. I was disappointed that Tommy Lee Jones didn’t have a bigger part, because towards the climax, I thought he had the best performance. Overall, I give this movie a 4/10. Had great visuals (although not NEARLY as good as Interstellar), and the ending with Tommy Lee Jones was very emotional and well acted. But the rest was too slow and boring for me to give it a high score. I’d recommend just waiting until it came out on DVD/Blu-Ray to watch it.

5/10. This movie was.... odd. I think people get too caught up in thinking that just because a movie is different, that makes it good. In this case, it wasn’t. The movie overall was very average and Arnold has produced WAY better movies. The entire premise is somewhat confusing, especially to children, and by the end of the movie, every joke that was considered ‘satire’ had ran its course halfway through. The worst part was the fact that right when you think the movie was over, leaving you satisfied with the outcome, something crazy happens, adding another 30 minutes to the already dragged out film. This happened about 3 times and by the end of the film, my kids were actually ready for bed (which never happens). The few upsides to this movie are the numerous cameos by fellow action stars, Arnold’s first encounter with a clone of himself (something that would be recreated in the 6th Day), and the amazing visuals. Like I said, 5/10.
