Fear Nothing, Laugh Often

This was an amazing show! So few shows really suck you in and keep you coming back even over a decade later - and do it in a way that you don't really feel like you've stepped into a time warp. The cast are people from big movies and TV shows - some who didn't make it until after leaving, while some had already made a big impression. Dr. Green was once our lovable friend from Revenge of the Nerds, Bennett was in Coming to America, we all know Clooney from everything, and there were huge stars as guests throughout the series such as Alan Alda from MASH, Mrs. Garrette from the Facts of Life, Ed Asner, Forrest Whitaker, Rosemary Clooney (George's Aunt), Lucy Liu, Miguel Ferrer, Tobin Bell from Saw, Sally Field, Michael Ironside, Ray Liotta from Goodfellas, and so many more. It was fun playing the 'where do I know that face from' game during all 15 seasons. While the last 2 seasons weren't their best, they did one fine job of closing most everyone's stories in the end. Very few shows have made the impact on viewers and actors like ER, and manage to do it for 15 years. You can feel the pain, the elation, and everything in between because they had one of the best casts of all time, while managing to stay reasonably accurate in the grand scheme of how real medicine works.

Done just after the end of the Vietnam War, this is a more modern take on this old tale. The special effects are incredible. You'd swear it was a real gorilla, though a bit more... advanced than anything we would find in the real world. The story was intriguing, the characters were done well, and the action was consistent and face-paced, paying special attention to how the characters began to understand and see something more than what their instincts (based on fear) initially led them to perceive. As with all versions, they manage to humanize him in that strange way we do when we see intelligence or emotion in a creature's eyes.

The first part drags on this mocumentary/found footage style movie, but the further it goes in, the more you can't stop watching. It's well worth the slow parts for the rest of what you get.

If I could rate this a 10, I would. This is sci-fi at it's absolute best. A dystopian future where things get bad, the rich go off to live in a better place, everyone else is left to suffer, and there's political intrigue. After all, there's no place some humans aren't going to be greedy for power. It plays on the differences in a very dramatic fashion, and it has the group of people trying to change things for the better, even if they have to go about it a little dirty time to time. It's got that emotional pull that you don't realize is there until it hits you hard. There's a few really shocking moments where you didn't expect what happened. Honestly, if you don't watch this, you're missing out. It's really amazing what they've done.

This one is better than the first one, and an excellent follow-up to the first. If you liked the first one, you'll love this one.

This is a fun, cool movie. Yes, the storyline is full of common tropes, but it's done in a way you can really get into and enjoy.

This is a seriously twisted movie. As soon as you think you've got the plot down, something changes. You really have to watch it the end to get the full scope of it, and you won't want to miss 1 second on the screen. A bit of violence, not really gory (1 head injury that's a little ick), not much in the foul language, but the F word does get tossed out 2 or 3 times. That is for those who find such information useful.

This was so very not what I expected. It was better, crazier, and so much more complex than what I thought I was going to see. It's truly a fabulous story done by one guy who's doing some incredible acting, and the voice of the robot. It is something you should not miss, especially if you love having your brain toyed with a bit.

This is a very thought-provoking movie. As technology advances and we make more an more advanced things to help us, civilization finds more and more ways to use those improvements for new and unintended ways. You could have written the story about the internet or cell phones and get a similar storyline, but this takes it up to the next level. It's all about what way is the right (or better) way for humanity to live. Whether it's about living through the internet, a phone, or a robot - or living and breathing naturally. There's always someone who's going to think these things are taking away our humanity, and others who simply like to live that way. Is it our hubris or are we lost? Should it be allowed or stopped? And who has the right to decide for the rest of the world? Is it progress or a way to hide away from our fears?

I'm docking it for the unnecessary excessive camera tricks that did nothing to enhance the experience. That aside, the plot was not difficult to follow, the acting is.... decent. A bit of extra screaming and freaking out that just wasn't natural to the way things were going. It was repetitious and it made these 'experienced' cavers like a bunch of people who would be better suited in a theme park or something. All in all, it wasn't bad. Not great, but pretty good.
