A Factorio or Satisfactory system managing / optimizing game. The twist is the environment is very much the obstacle and your machines don't perfectly solve the problems around you and cause their own. Managing your staff adds more complexity. It pulls a little from Dwarf Fortress in that way.
Learning from failure is expected and required.
That said it scratches a deeper itch that none of those mentioned by being a unique mix of complexity, planning, redoing, failure and yet oh so satisfying as you fight your asteroid and staff for every inch.
This game has taken a place in my life that none have had for a while, an absolute sinkhole of personal investment, so a thumbs up.
