The star is for the beautiful art and animation, I have only seen the movie. As for it being aimed at children. I found the subject matter very disturbing, The dialogue is full of messages and lessons on loving oneself and others and belonging and feelings and positivity. But It’s about a little boy lost in the snow, without a coat, with no one looking for him, and he is not missing his family and just has a concept of home and love, meets and chooses his animal friends at the end, despite being near a house.
