Unless you are playing this for the first time, this re-remaster is completely unjustified and unnecessary. It represents everything wrong with the gaming industry today and I can only hope it serves to act as a pivot away from such unfriendly consumer practices.
There is no justification for the resources that were allocated to this project, instead, all we know is that nothing new is in the works or has been for some time.
The graphical overhaul is indeed amazing. The accessibility features, being the only good thing from Part II have been brought over, which is great, more people should be able to experience games. However, I doubt the intention was of a noble heart, if they actually cared for those who are less able, then why not update your previous 2!! versions with these features. Instead of, I don't know, charging them $70 just to be able to play a game they've probably brought once already.
Coming to that price tag, $70! for a second remaster of a game that is only 9 years old! Come on. The original multiplayer isn't even included, I have heard ND might be coming out with a new multiplayer mode, which yes fine, I understand why multiplayer wasn't included if true. But if so, by definition you aren't getting the full original game, so why is it priced as such?
Save your $70 for a new PS5 game and just play the original or (can't believe I am calling it this) the original remaster on PSN. Actually makes me sad to see such a great company put out a video each day leading to release, just to have them justify the game's existence. No one wanted this, no one asked for this and I am looking forward to the Last of Us Part I Re-remake, re-remastered definitive edition on PS7.
P.S - Can't verify, but I have heard if you got the Special Edition, they more than likely will turn up wrecked in the post.
