As a more conservative viewer it definetly forces one to take a step back and analyze your own beliefs and how political figures and news outlets will interpret information for you. That being said the film was obviously created for a certain rage filled demographic, and to a certain extent the director/writer Adam Mckay seemed to cloud his own view of reality through his poltical views.
The acting preformances are absolutely phenomenal. Christian Bale is one of the best actors of the century period. The nuance of his preformance whether you examine the mannerisms or cadence of speech he adopts there is no doubt that he is Dick Cheney. Amy Adams is the most poigniant example of someone Adam tried to shine in a decent light despite his own views.
While Steve Carrells acting was solid, the writing suggests a cartoonish version of Rumsfeld which makes him out to be almost an evil genius of sorts. Other smaller preformances carry their weight and then some, with almost every actor in this film doing a spot on job.
The film is thought provoking and interesting and a recommended watch no matter where you lie on the political spectrum. Im nearly certain that each individual who watches this will take away something a bit different than the next. Dick Cheney himself was a titan of history and im very glad his story was told and fleshed out, even if he himself saw this Im sure he might suffer another heart attack.
