I waited years to play this game and have never been more excited for a release. Im a NCAAF fanatic. Unfortunately though, in over 20+ years of gaming, I had never even considered requesting a refund on any game until playing this one. As a Madden player i hoped the gameplay would be a bit improved. Instead it took such a massive step back that i wonder if they used software from 10 year old Maddens. Its INSANELY clunky, glitchy, and just feels terrible. I hope the next Madden is not like this, because I will be returning that too if its this bad I dont even know where to begin. The gameplay itself is essentially unplayable. Please take a moment to look at people’s discussions about the offensive line in this game. They dont block. At all. I had a team with all 90+ o-linemen, and I had less than 2 seconds to throw on almost every pass attempt. Youre forced to run slants or drags every play if you want to be able to pass. Deep passes are borderline completely un-useable unless you have a mobile QB that can avoid the entire d-line when they instantly get into the backfield. Dont even get me started on interceptions. DBS teleport to the ball every damn play. This has been a Madden issue for years, but WOW did it get so much worse in this game. If you try to throw any sort of contested jump ball? Interception. Defender is 5 yards behind your open WR? Itll be an interception. Virtually every post route, seam route, or corner route is a guaranteed interception no matter how open your player looks (assuming you somehow buy enough time to not be instantly sacked) The game is only playable on the lowest difficulty but that’s too easy to be fun. As soon as your turn it up, it’s impossible. I say this as someone who has played Madden HOF CPU for years and been okay. The people enjoying this game are playing on the lowest difficulty, which is fine. But it’s either A. Play on a difficulty where you crush the CPU every time or B. Play on any other difficulty and get ready to not pass the ball. The presentation is cool. The game modes are extremely limited but are well thought out. Running the ball has some flaws but isn’t terrible. The gameplay is just so bad otherwise that i cant force myself to pretend to like it anymore The simulations are terrible for people who like realistic play as well. The college playoff is always filled with weird teams and unrealistic outcomes. This is less pressing than the horrendous gameplay but I know this is something that has bothered others.
