I liked the storyline and themes covered but this one was not as good as the first book.

While I am definitely an Alex Cross fan this one seems to be nonending and tries to cover too much ground. Alex definitely takes a back seat in this one to John Sampson. While I think Sampson is the perfect side kick for Cross, in my opinion he is not a good substitute as the main protagonist. I also prefer the Alex Cross novels (and all the others) which Patterson writes by himself without a co-author.
