At one time, 'Snapped' was the greatest true-crime show ever. Today, it is unwatchable and irrelevant. Back in the day, it was must-see-tv. Every Sunday at 9pm, people were glued to their seats. They used to have the newest, most high-profile cases. Now, 'Snapped' is old cases and old people. Most of the new episodes are cases from the 90's or early 2000's. Most of the people involved are in their 60's or 70's.
In 2018, 'Snapped' changed their format and replaced legendary narrator, Sharon Martin with a different person. It was the beginning of the steep decline for this once great series. The show used to focus on the person that "snapped". The person who's name is actually in the title. The new episodes focus on the victim and the police investigation. In most episodes, the show wastes 10-15 minutes with police officers and detectives reciting interviews with "suspects" that we already know did not commit the crime because we know who the killer is before the show starts. And speaking of the killer, there are numerous episodes in which the killer is not even mentioned until 35 minutes into the show. They no longer show crime scene photos. Instead, they have actors or dummies portraying the dead people. It comes off phony and corny. They go into minute details of the crime scene and interviews; wasting 15-20 minutes on things only a detective would care about. And they repeat the same things over and over and over. The editing is terrible. A person will be talking, then in mid-sentence, another person will start talking. And finally, they ignore the killer's trial. The old 'Snapped' would dedicate a 10-12 minute window to the trial; They would often times show the defendant's testimony if they testified at trial. The new 'Snapped' will just say the person was arrested, they went to trial and were convicted. In some episodes, they don't even mention the sentence they received. 'Snapped' was my favorite show on tv. But that show died in 2018. This version of 'Snapped' gets ZERO Stars.
