Definitely not my style. One of the worst books I've read. As far as I can tell, the main moral of the story is: truth is never clear cut. It is ambiguous, even when all the information is there.
The other moral is: given opportunity, most people are deceptive and criminal.

Gruesome. Felt disjointed, especially the last third. The only good thing to say is that the characters were well developed and interesting. I've never liked this story, and it took me 40 years to get the courage to finally get through the whole book. Way too many scary scenes. I would never recommend this book to anyone. The second star is because I did like the non scary scenes. But they were too few.

I love the Sound of Music, and appreciated the nuances that this version brought forth. I liked how the baroness was shown as more clueless and pretentious than deliberately sabotaging or jealous of Maria. Since theater acting focuses more on high energy presentation, it felt like there were too many moments the cast was smiling inexplicably during their songs and some of the scenes. Overall a good show and one I will enjoy watching again.
