Well it was good enough for me to watch the whole thing I guess, hoping it would get better. The casting for me was the hardest to get around. Toni Colette looks nothing like the woman playing her younger self so when the photo of her young self was first introduced I had no idea why we were supposed to care. Is there no young actress who looks like Toni Colette? Or could be made to look like Collette?
And I was disappointed in Collette’s acting. She’s the reason I watched it in the first place. I didn’t buy her crying- usually without tears. And her line readings were often soap opera-ish.
And about the story - why would Andy care about her mother at all? She “left her” at birth and then yanks her away from the only woman who’s taken care of her. Just hard to buy. Plus she continues to leave without explanation, on top of some nasty verbal abuse she heaps on Andy.
I watched the whole thing but was ultimately disappointed. Oh well.

One of the best I’ve ever seen. Brilliant writing, acting, and chemistry between actors - what an ensemble!

I started out watching it in Covid boredom and ended up hate-watching it all the way through. It’s hard to tell what’s worse- the casting, writing, acting, costuming, plot. Take your pick.
