If you want a murder mystery, you will be severely disappointed.
There is no murder until two hours into the movie leaving you bored and confused the entire time.
Also there is no big reveal scene where the detective explains exactly what happened to the characters and the audience, which in my opinion is the very best part of a whodunnit and without this factor I left the movie feeling wholly incomplete.
On top of all of this, there are just too many characters who are too similar it is impossible to keep track of meaning that there where no characters that the audience could form an emotional connection with, a factor needed for an impactful movie, as you couldn’t tell one person from another.
It was disappointing to see such a wide cast of amazing actors let down all of my expectations, as I believe with the right plot, script and care, this movie could have been amazing.
However, I will say that if you like period pieces and the intricacies of old fashioned relationships then this movie might be the one for you, provided that you put in enough effort to tell the difference between, and remember all the characters, but as I was promised a murder mystery, this movie was thoroughly frustrating and unfulfilling.
If you are in search of a better murder mystery than this movie provided, then I would recommend ‘Knives Out’ or anything by Agatha Christie.
