This is a Review Section and you are bound to find spoilers but still, I am giving a Spoiler warning
Spoiler Alert!
Alright, I firmly Believed that Drishyam 2 wouldn't surpass the greatness of its predecessor. The same way as many sequels to spectacular films. Many sequels have been overhyped before release but disappointed many in the end. I believed Drishyam 2 would not be better than Drishyam.
But that was till I watched the movie. The First Half made me feel like I was right about what I thought as it felt very slow and boring. The acting was great throughout the whole movie. But the plot felt a bit slow. And I generally don't like slow movies. I then took a small break before watching the second half and when I did watch, that was when I realised that what I expected turned out to be wrong.
The Second Half was downright awesome! That compensated for the first half. Unlike the first half the second made me glued to the seat. I got thirsty in between but I didn't go to get water because the movie was so intense. The fear in George's Family just touched me and George's determination to save his family just made me feel touched. I hated Varun and his mom last movie but the mother's feelings about her deceased son made me feel sympathetic towards her.
One thing I felt was that Varun's mom went out of character. I mean she accepted her mistake last movie with her husband and now all of a sudden a desire to take revenge, like boom! Why? I understand a mother's grief for her son but she did realise her son's mistake and his behaviour right?
Leaving that aside, I loved George's old look in the 2013 movie than in this one but in character I loved the sequel version. The daughter getting past flashbacks was done very well and her fear towards Police looked very natural.
George had an extraordinary brain. And so did the director and scriptwriter. The Movie was done extraordinary well and the only tiny flaw I noticed was with that Mother's character. The atmosphere of each scene, the acting, the plot, George Kutty's big brain and will to save her family, everything was just, wow!
Thanks for this wonderful movie and if this were in Theatres I believe this would have taken down Lucifer.
