Being an Indian and having visited the Sunderbans, it was particularly relatable. Amitabh Ghosh has been in my wish list since 2015 and got to read his masterpiece (to me atleast) THE HUNGRY TIDE recently. The protagonist, Piya, takes you through the thick and thins of Indo-American life, through the rustic life sundarban, through the urban life as well. It’s hard to claim the antagonist as an antagonist. Ghosh made me feel happy with the unrealistic bond between Piya(born and brought up in States) and Fokir (a simple rustic fisherman who could never understand Piya’s Language). It would send u a chill through spines to witness (if it can be called such) the mute love story of two poles! Loved it!
