Had never heard of this story before tonight, but my husband and I found it amazingly different to watch, with a deep, soft and kind message of comfort overriding the initial sadness of the story. Would love to read the book.it attempted to address many of the myths around religious beliefs in an almost “fairy tale” way, which worked for us!
