Most movies to me usually fall in the middle even if others say they’re bad but this one. This one. Was genuinely bad. Right off the bat just to get it out of the way yes the soundtrack was terrible. The drums and dogs barking were fine. They didn’t really add anything for me but at least they didn’t take away from the movie and make it hard to focus like the ringing noise. It was constantly used throughout the movie. So annoying. Next everything just felt sooooo boring. The sets were mostly just a white lab with glass walls and the main characters boring looking house. The lighting was nice but even that felt like they just saw other movies do it and said yeah let’s throw some of that in there. The acting was robotic even before they were brainwashed. I didn’t care about any of the characters or their connections. Which they barely even showed their connections to begin with. Also we were basically chained to a main character who made stupid decisions at the beginning even though she’s supposed to be this super smart scientist. Then basically rolled over and did nothing the rest of the movie even when she started realizing what was going on all the way till the very end where she tried to lower the temp to kill the plants for like what 5 seconds and then be immediately stopped and brainwashed. Like what was the point? Endless word vomit that could boil down to “yeah I’m brainwashed watch me act like I’m not while we take over”. I literally skipped one of these lectures toward the end and it didn’t change anything about my experience. That’s a problem. If you don’t need it in the movie don’t add it. I get it’s supposed to be a slow plot but like there’s a difference between a slow plot and a dragged out plot. This was a dragged out plot. Also why even have that one lady with the dog pretend to be brainwashed? All she did was pretend to be brainwashed then stand up in a room filled with people she knew were brainwashed and say hey I’m not brainwashed. Basically putting a target on herself and then immediately getting chased down and murdered. Like she might as well have just been brainwashed it would’ve changed nothing. The concept was interesting but everything else was a waste of time. Don’t watch this film. I wish I didn’t.
