The book is a masterpiece! The movie is a bit of a letdown. It really lags and it feels like it’s missing something, compared to the book. I’m visiting the Stanley Hotel soon, so I thought I should familiarize myself with the book and movie. If I watched the movie first, I would not have read the book. It just wasn’t as interesting as I was led to believe it would be. Some suspenseful moments, but not as frightening as I anticipated. Jack Nicholson really did sell the character, but he was intense and intimidating even before the hotel took over and made him violent. I feel for the all the actors, I’m certain it was a traumatizing movie to make, especially for poor Shelley. Idk, worth watching once. The book is spectacular, the first work of Stephen King that made me a fan!
