If you are a foodie AND enjoy good acting, you’ll love this film.

Screenwriters or the Editing room failed to provide enough explanation of the characters. There’s a large cast with too little time spent with each to learn their names, their motivations, and their place in the hierarchy. This film leaves one bewildered. Instead of intrigue one feels resentment toward the writers. I’m sure those who read the book come into the film prepared

Several laugh out loud moments followed by the realities of life, pain, regret, and mortality. Something different- it’s original with a couple scenes that don’t hit the Mark. Side note: if you find people speaking with crudity offensive, it’s not for you.

Let’s begin at the end. Nothing is resolved. There’s abandonment, dancing, loss - like most of the film you question what is real and what’s inside their heads. Unsurprisingly the hyper-intellectual want to rave over all the meaning hidden within. I suppose it reminds me of reading Chaucer or Greek mythology in high school and needing the teacher to explain the MANY references and double meanings. Perhaps this film would work better with a 30 minute lecture by the writer informing us of what the heck we were supposed to understand from all of symbolism.

Film is uneven and ultimately forgettable. As usual, I wonder whether the hard-core comic book fans will revel in the canon and Easter eggs enough to truly enjoy the overall film. Scenes often felt contrived to include one of those historic elements, such as her Invisible Plane. Despite her powers I don’t believe even WW can get an old, short range fighter jet to expand its range to Trans-Atlantic. Or that the guy flying it could go from prop planes of his era to jet engine flight in a hot minute. We have to suspend belief to some extent with any super hero movie, yet physical realities that have nothing to do with the hero’s powers must remain. After over a decade of these types of films, the script and character development must win out over effects. It was too long and in the end just okay. A fun ride for a carefree summer flick, no one will be talking about an overhyped WW84 in 2021 other than it belongs ensconced among the disappointments of a grueling year.
