I think this poem is more beneficial for the reader when they know the historical context and of the social issues between Britain and its citizens occurring at the time. It's much more than a collection of pretty words and a pastoral description of a beach. Definitely one of my favorite poems, not only for its beauty but the subtle simplicity of its point.
