It's beyond clear that all of these 1 star reviews come from people who have not read the book. Frankly, I'm doubtful most of the 1 star reviewers have ever read ANY book, religious works included. The Satanic Verses is an excellent book about immigration, faith, and magical realism. The saddest part isn't that Rushdie has had his life repeatedly threatened over this work. It's that as far as "blasphemy" goes, this work is just so mundane. You wouldn't even realize it would be so controversial reading it, unless you were already insane.
