If you understand the Sopranos and have seen all 86 episodes like 10 times over you will understand (The Many Saints Of Newark) and the story of Dickie Moltisanti, this is not the Sopranos but it is a David Chase movie that shows the period before Anthony Soprano was an adult and his family in the 60's 70's, I honestly think David Chase has got this right , Christopher Moltisanti aka (Michael Imperioli) provides a minimal voice over which is perfect , this is a beautifully shot movie and why should this be like a Goodfellas?, I think that would be missing the point of the story which is Newark in that period of time before Anthony Soprano became the boss of the family of the late 90's and the 2000's.
I think those that are leaving poor review's on this movie are probably not understanding the vision of David Chase's writing or what he may have witnessed in his life before even writing the Sopranos and then this movie, and let's face facts Chase is a genius and this movie is showing a different time.
The casting is as always in the case of David Chase spot on, especially the Young (Carmella De Angelis /Soprano) briefly featured outside the telephone box scene played by Lauren DiMario it is this kind of attention to detail that makes Chase the incredible writer he is.
