I managed to get through it because I liked the soldier character and appreciated the discussion about ptsd and mental health but the main character Karina was a whiny, selfish, immature brat in my opinion that clearly should just stay single. I questioned whether it was good writing of a bad character but I never felt that she was ever made accountable for her behavior and therefore felt that the story’s intent was to make her the “woah is me victim”even if it was nothing more than a high maintenance 20 something female blaming everyone else for her problems

I really enjoyed the Fourth Wing, however, Iron Flame was disappointing. Violets double standards, and unrealistic expectations surrounding her relationship with Zayden gets old really fast. Unfortunately, I found myself skimming through because it felt redundant. She can keep secrets but he can’t? The toxic turn of their relationship took away from the rest of the story for sure
