TL:DR: the game is great- a solid 8 out of 10. The open worlds are amazing, the story is fine and the gameplay, although simple, makes sense in the context of the game. People have review bombed this game to hell, and itโs so unfair. Outlaws is seriously enjoyable. Some people just dislike any content produced by Disney, and form their opinions before they even play the game. Do yourself a favour and just play it.

This is a great game. It has been heavily review bombed- I suspect some are honest opinions, but many are from people who havenโt played the game, or decided the didnโt like it before they even played it. Donโt let that put you off. Star Wars fandom is polarised now, and there are a large number of โfansโ who hate anything produced by Disney whether the content is good or not. To be fair, some of the content produced by Disney has been terrible. I was so let down by the Obi-Wan show, as well as the Book of Boba Fett. However, I loved other projects like Rogue One, Andor and the Bad Batch. In fact, Iโd say theyโre some of the best Star Wars weโve ever had. Ultimately, Iโd like to think Iโm fair in my reviews.
This game is a solid 8/10 for me. Iโve played around 30 hours. The highlight of the game is the open world and the music. You genuinely feel like youโre walking around the Star Wars universe, and everything is so detailed and cinematic. The towns are alive, and Iโve spent a long time just walking around the different cities taking it all in.
The story is fine. Itโs nothing groundbreaking, and it gets significantly better in the last third of the game. Itโs good enough to keep you interested, and lets you see the Galaxy from a new direction. The pacing of the story seems good.
Some of the main criticisms of this game have been about the gameplay and about the bugs. Iโve had one game crash in my 30 hours, and occasionally Kay (or NPCs) will glide across the map rather than walk (no leg movement animations). This happened twice, and stops when you stop moving. Other than that, Iโve had no issues related to bugs or performance, and I wouldnโt say the ones I experienced had any real impact on my enjoyment of the game.
The gameplay is simple, with stealth being quite bland, and combat being a point and shoot affair, but (and hereโs the catch) that seems intentional to me. The main character is 22 years old. Sheโs not going to be an absolute tank with her blaster and abilities at this point. Within the context of the game, the combat and stealth make sense and I really donโt mind them. Theyโre still fun and engaging.
The characters are likeable. Kay and Nix are the standouts, and I really enjoyed the time with ND-5. Kay has a likeable personality, and comes across well.
The feeling of heading to a new planet and exploring is amazing. As a life long Star Wars fan, I canโt recommend it enough. That aspect alone is enough for me to recommend this game to any Star Wars fan.
If youโre a fan of Star Wars, do yourself a favour and just play it.
