I enjoyed the book and the illustrations very much. I was 13 yrs. old when our family was sent to Poston, AZ from Los Angeles. We were very patriotic in those days so it was very hurtful to be considered subversive.
When the Poston camp closed, we relocated to Chicago instead of going back to L.A. The people of Chicago were wonderful to us letting us use their churches and giving us jobs. The German-Americans, Italian-Americans and Jewish-Ame
ricans were especially nice to us. Perhaps, they felt some prejudice too because of the war. I will never forget their kindness as long as I live. I was born in Los Angeles 90 yrs ago.
