If I had to describe this book in one sentence, it'd go like: "This book doesn't make you rush into reading it or get excited to know what's next and yet somehow keeps you glued all the way through it." I would be lying if I say it had my whole attention in the beginning itself. In fact, I think this is the longest I took reading a book that I wanted to read from such a long time. The book starts at a slow pace describing routine which had a touch of genuinety and innocence to it as it is narrated by a little girl. The book revolves around the lives of a father(Atticus) and his two children(Jem and Scout). The father is a fair man, in a literal sense. He doesn't do anything that wouldn't let him sleep peacefully at night. The way he takes stand on right grounds, no matter how hard it is makes us believe that even one person can and does make a difference, however slow the change might seem at the moment. I literally had goosebumps while reading some parts, not because they were scary but because I felt such strong emotions. While dealing with issues of rape and racism, it makes us think how we often look at the surface of a person's life and think we know what they're going through when it's much deeper than that. The book gives us such deeper insights into our own lives, makes us look deep into our conscience and you'll be amazed how you're taken back to some random events of your lives. I was in complete awe at the subtlety of message it delivers through its characters and surprised how it slowly began to change the way I think about people and their lives. The book is one of a kind and it'll change the way you look at the world. Give it a try.
