Iโm reading these reviews (and posting my own) after seeing the movie. Iโm happy I saw the film before reading these reviews. See it for yourself and make your own judgment.
This is not the first time Iโm inclined to review the reviewers rather than the movie. I thought the movie was superb on all fronts and I agree with the comments and insights of the 5 star reviewers.
As I read through the reviews, I was taken back by the lack of empathy and understanding by those who gave it lackluster reviews. For the critics, whose job it is to review films, I say perhaps itโs time to put down your spreadsheet of โshould and should havesโ for film requirements. Instead, take time for some empathy and introspection. Itโs sad some viewers and reviewers missed the subtle poignancy of opposing personalities from the same family as they experience and confront troubling issues from their past. It appears others wanted โin your faceโ comedic scenes or other elements handed to them on a platter.
Suffice to say I would prefer to be friends with the individuals who gave five star reviews as opposed to those leaving one star.
