This game is amazing, incredible world, good story, and incredible gameplay. The game lets you do some incredible things and is very exploration based, plus the second thing that helps enhance the exploration and combat is the Skell, but that is later on in the game so on spoilers. The Data Probes are a fun thing to do when you are waiting on something to happen, I enjoyed them and gave you an excuse to explore this vast world with five regions that each feel as large as a GTA or Witcher map. Plus there are so many systems that quietly enhance your experience like the Divisions.
Some things that hold it back are the kinda bad map which doesn't show depth or how to get to an objective, I didn't know that the Follow Ball (the thing that helps you get to your side quest location that was under your feet but you can't find the entrance to the caves that it reside in) actually helped with side quests until I looked it up. The "multiplayer" is kinda simple and bland since it's just people grouping up to face off against a raid boss, and it is hard to find people especially now days, and there is no option to join a friends's Xenoblade X game and explore with them doing things. And if you wanted to just cheese the game, just ask help from the list that gives you someone else's character at the max level (it's how I beat the final Boss... it's kinda stupid) rather than the recruitable party members. The game was on the Wii U, which while a fine console, isn't really popular and make this game hard to play. Also, the ending just make you want more of this story, so I wish Monolith Soft would rerelease on the Switch with more content, please give us an announcement so we can a wait in anticipation rather than just have wishful dreams along with the Xenosaga series and basically the entire Xeno franchise.
All in all, great game if you can get and play it
