First of all, many of the reviews have very poor English and spelling, foreign authors. Are these even for real viewers?
I watched Remember the Goal with my daughter, whose been a cross-country runner for 7 seasons, now on the collegiate level. Also have three older sons who all ran in high school. We've had experience with mostly smart and caring coaches. Tempo training and working hills are very useful tools for preparing for races. But some of the coach's methods to hold back the runners paces for months did not seem realistic for producing a state win at the end. The coach came off rather tough, aloof, unlikeable at first, not even mentioning for a full 30+ min screen time (as a CHRISTIAN academy teacher) the Scriptural examples or motivation to do your best for GOD with running talents. That should have been an early foundational talk to build team unity! And it took more than an hour in before she revealed some of her reasons for odd training plans-- Not good at interacting with the various parent types (who DO show up in HS sports). The acting was okay, but at moments it was quite apparent they all were recruited amateurs around the Tennessee filming locales. Some did not have a believable runner's body type or form. We liked the story arc for runner Anna the best. Overall, the film was inspiring enough that we plan to watch the sequel about a college track star. In it she trains for the 800m, which is my daughter's favorite and best spring event.
