It took me a while to start really watching this one.... but hooked me in by the 3rd - 4th episode, the little boy is all grown up and SO glad I stuck with it... This foray into the very early history of the formation of England is a mostly unknown topic that, to me, is a thoroughly refreshing take on early history about the Danes, the Saxons, the Britons, the Roman influences ie: early Christian history, all enmeshed into some wonderfully creative characters with surprising and unexpected storylines that just keep evolving. The constantly changing allegiances and alliances keep you guessing.... basically, the lead character gets a lot of grief from the very beginning and...nevermind, you just have to watch. On a technical note, you might want to watch the "recap" of episodes by VERY quickly stopping the dangerously lightning-fast "skip recap" (aka the binge-watch) button. I did go back after discovering the recaps were important for my understanding after I had a few continuity discrepancies, time jumps and/or new characters from nowhere. Just sayin'. Enjoy
