About 5 hours into the game so far. Unimpressed, especially given how much hype went out from Bethesda HQ. Seems like they sold us a bill of goods.
Loved Fallout 4, I felt like that was one of the best games I'd ever played. This is like Bethesda phoned in a version of Fallout 4 for space, without thinking about how uninteresting it is to spend hours just flying through dead space or walking around barren planets. Dialogue is lazy and uninspired - main character is mute for the entire game. I mean c'mon, how is that an immersive experience?
Space flight is a joke. Load into the cockpit, load into a cut scene to get into space, click on a dot, load onto another planet, load out of the ship onto the planet. It makes moving around so damn tedious, it's honestly hard to play.
Inventory menus, overlays and item management are so overly complex, it feels like nobody gave a second though to trying to deliver a seamless experience. Where Fallout 4 had a ton of lore, and a compelling design aesthetic, Starfield feels like a generic space game with no soul. Glad I got it through Gamepass rather than paying outright. I would be requesting a refund if I did.
For all the people saying they played for 8 or 12 or 20 hours before they really got into it - that is a sign of a terrible game. I played Fallout for 30 minutes and was hooked.
