This is the second time I've tried go watch this movie and it just reconfirmed how much I didn't like it. Really my issues surrounds reese witherspoons character and the back and forth with the singing of the divorce papers. I don't think she's selfish for leaving her hometown and getting engaged to another man (like some of the characters suggest) but I do think she's incredibly selfish for going back and forth multiple times through the film, giving both guys hope. When he's finally about to sign the papers she gets all sentimental (almost like she's second guessing wanting to divorce him) then when he's like "nah I got a date tonight, I'll have my lawyers look it over."
She's like "ugh, just sign the papers!" Like what do you want? I also don't seen anyone dumping Patrick Dempsey at the alter after the way he treated her throughout the film. And I have to say i would have been pissed just like his mother was. I didn't like you from the beginning but I accepted the fact that you're gonna marry my son. We paid for all this shit to come down here so yall could get married in the back skirts of hillbilly town, just so you could dump my son at the altar. Yeah I get it.
