Never before in my life have I seen a movie so bad it drove me to review it. The contrived plot is entirely predicated on the characters acting with unrecognizable incompetence. The plot holes go so far beyond the conciets of genre fiction that I am convinced the production team used the film as an excuse to indulge in a shared fetish for seeing superheroes be mutilated. There are no characters in the movie, just vessels that exist to bend over backwards to make the next fight scene happen. There are no stakes either, before the first ten minutes are over things are so overwhelmingly terrible that all hope is lost until a deus ex machina in the last few seconds renders the whole plot a waste of time. It's as if the director watched Dawn of Justice and carefully learned all the wrong lessons. While it is possible for superhero films to be art (see: Under the Red Hood) this film's very existence serves to legitimize the criticism levied at the superhero genre as a whole.
I would give an extra star for the competent voice acting and dialogue between john constantine and captain boomerang but I'm worried that may risk misleading someone into thinking this film has some redeeming value.
This film needs to justify itself to Darkseid
