This is a superb film, moving and exasperating at the same time. You wish more for the driven, visionary hero, knowing that he is a genius of modern technology, but alas egocentric and self-destructively prideful. Despite his emotionally stunted childhood, he is loved and encouraged by women and men captivated by his good looks and brilliant mind. However, in the end he sends his wife and children away as he succumbs to solitude and impending death from cancer, his youthful dreams never fully realized (although we catch a glimpse of their possibility in the windmills he has built on his property). It's a sad film, but the writing, acting and directing are beautiful and energetically dramatic, and pulled me in.
