Sometimes there is fantasy, and sometimes there is really really good fantasy. Fantasy which blurs the edges of reality, and which suspends disbelief, even the disbelief of the cynical and overstimulayed modern viewer. Well done!!

A well told epic dealing with the horrors of war in an honest way. It avoids descending into pro Allied propagandizing and anti Germany demonizing as American "war sories" often do. Amazing acting. Astonishing directing.
