I was recommended this series and it sounded interesting. Boy was I wrong. I read 400 pages and couldn't continue. It felt like parts of it was like Twilight - vampires walking and basking in the daylight and no fangs and at times would "glow". And don't get me started with the toxic relationship between Diana and Matthew. Diana started as a strong female lead who is very intelligent only to fall for a controlling misogynistic vampire. They professed their love for one another and all of a sudden he decides she's his wife without her consent. She also must do everything he tells her to do in order to keep her "safe". This is not romance, it's abuse and the story is based on very archaic views and values. There were moments where I hoped Diana would turn him into a frog. She sees him as her knight of shining armor. And I hated the parts where she plays as the prey to appease his predatory tendencies. There was a lot of superfluous material in the book that had no relevance to the story. Needed a lot of serious editing. Absolute garbage and would not recommend to anyone. Sorry for the negative review but it's terribly written.
