Great actors, great story, poor execution.
I wasn’t a fan of the style that this movie was recreated in, which chopped up the original timeline of the book. There was more in-depth scenes with characters which I liked the inclusion of, Fern Pugh is an amazing Amy. The ending opted to make the main character mirror the author rather than the true ending. Perhaps the best way to honour Alcott was to accurately represent her work rather than undermine how she chose to end it with a modern twist. The music also fits pretty poorly.
The film lacked a lot of warmth and failed to make you at home with the March’s. 1994’s version stands far superior and it has left me with no doubt that this movie did not need a remake.
