I have not seen the original. Took my mom to see it. She loved the original. She said this was alot different. I thot it was ok. I didnt do my homework. I had no idea it was a musical. My favorite character in the movie was Sophia. Fantasia was great in her role as Celie.

The acting was not great. It was an ok movie. There was some gore for sure. It was an interesting twist on the apocalyps. Wait to see it on demand and not pay movie prices!
