This game has its flaws, but I can't agree with the people giving it less than 5 stars.
I suppose I had no expectations going in and therefore I let the game speak for itself.
The spaceflight controls took some getting used to (I accidentally held E too long in the middle of a firefight and got up from my seat)
but other than a small learning curve I've started to love the dog fights. I had to look up online what ship weapons were best but that fixed everything I didn't like. I even ended up killing off Starborn ships!
I really like the Riyujin storyline, which is equivalent to Skyrim's Thieve's guild, and spent many sessions climbing my way up the corporate ladder.
I haven't tackled outpost building but that seems like it could be fun.
I appreciate that if you get through the Free Star Rangers story-line they give you a brand new ship.
There are flaws yes, I got stuck in a few odd areas with my character and had to jiggle my way out of them.
You can end up in places where you don't have the skills to continue.
I needed the Expert level lockpicking skill in the Riyujin storyline and had no way of getting it, but also couldn't continue without setting off alarms. So, like all Bethesda games, I went back to an earlier save and did that first and started over.
Speaking of, I already have a strong habit of saving all the damn time. I don't like doing things twice so I save before almost every decision or major action.
This prevents me from getting stuck if there are glitches and also from getting stuck if I made the wrong choice. I don't mind either one.
I never expected this game to be perfect. I also didn't expect it to engross me so deeply.
I can't wait for my next play session. I can't wait until I have enough credits to outright buy a new ship. I can't wait to upgrade my weapons and grav drive and reactor and...everything.
It's very fun. It's very engrossing. I love playing this game.
