I stumbled upon this series only last night (March1, 2020) and was instantly enthralled. I assumed it was fiction until the end, when title cards gave information about what happened to the various people in the story. Then today I learned that Ruth Wilson was playing her own grandmother.
This story of a British man with multiple lives, who may have been a spy and war hero, was gripping and fast paced. The way in which several of his wives tried to protect their children from the truth was heart wrenching.
The writing was tense and sharp and kept me on the edge of my seat til the end. All of the acting was quite fine, but Ruth Wilson especially deserves high praise. Her connection with the character was deep and seamless. She broke my heart several times in the course of the series.
If you haven't yet seen this series, please do. You will be stunned, as I was.
