As my father and two uncles served in the First World War (Uncle Charles Hockey was killed in action in1917) and l have served in the army I found this book a moving but heartfelt way of explaining the bond between soldiers in time of war. The simplistic but powerful poetry combined with the evocative illustrations makes it a beautiful tribute to friendship in such terrible times
