It seems like this band has reinvented itself for third time in their career, leaning into the dichotomy between their punk and groove rock roots and the arena rock that has defined them. I can close my eyes and hear Temple of the Dog in “upper hand” or Soundgarden in “waiting for Stevie.” Tom Petty lives again in “Wreckage.” This album is made for the first time listener and those of us whose lives have served as the backdrop to this bands soundtrack. Truly a band who can never grow old.
