Worth watching on it's own I guess but what a butcher job of Jules Verne's original book. Why do some no-name script writers think they can do a better job than some of the most inspired and most beloved, classic writers of all time? I get the hand-wringing woke culture of today has much to do with it but the original 19th century book tackled these issues better than this series so that is a huge fail. I mean Fogg's beloved Indian wife Aouda isn't even in this for a start. Hatchet job!

This is surprisingly authentic and deeper than expected. A strange combination of Sherlock Holmes, Dr. Who and Jonathan Creek? I went into it thinking it would be some post-modern, P.C trash but I love it so far despite the modern music and massive historical inaccuracies. London being so multicultural and diverse back then on all class levels is a bit laughable and reduces the actual racial inequality and real injustices of the time. You want to have a diverse cast, create something that's set in the present time and don't re-write history. The woke mob gets it so wrong on this front in my opinion. However this is some kind of weird supernatural meta-fiction anyway so all is forgiven and it is actually a lovely escape from all the hostility the world is dealing with at the mo, which is why we watch such things! I can't pick up on any agenda or anything just cool stories and great acting. A totally enjoyable twist and I think its quite fresh tbh. I'm very surprised I like it as I'm a traditional Holmes fan.

It was totally ruined by misinformed and very ungrateful feminists. The man-hating was palpable with some of the amateur interviewees. Was I watching a serial killer doco or just a bunch of bitter, middle aged, overweight women denigrating the police? As if they could've done any better! Zero respect was given for the countless hours and lives of the people working on the case. Many of the feminist "expert" opinions were contradictory, redundant and totally out of context. Many of those interviewed were journalists complaining about the police profiling their suspects and victims but no mention was made of journalists playing a similar hand when it comes to profiling. They do it all the time! The hindsight arrogance of thinking they could've solved it faster simply because they were women was vile and narcissistic. The doco focused too much on them and not the heroes of the story like the bobby who actually discovered the killer or what really motivated Sutcliffe. It's a sad indictment on the times that the SJW theme that was gerrymandered into the series led them to not following up what happened to Sutcliffe in later years. This was apparently in some vain attempt to highlight the women and not the killer but it was just a huge stuff up. A cheap wiki page shouldn't be more informative than a four hour documentary. What a disgraceful oversight. Can I take this chance to remind Netflix that people watch shows like this to be educated not be lectured to about something unrelated. Viewers get pulled into shows like this because they want to see justice prevail. There was not one mention of him being sent back to a regular prison or any of his many prison attacks which left him disfigured. This leads me to the most disgusting part. The woke bias actually framed it like because he was a "man" he got away with his crimes and spent the rest of his life living comfortably in Broadmoor, which was simply untrue. My hat goes off to the inmates who managed to give him a taste of it in return. When shows push a certain narrative at the expense of the facts they re-write history which is a dangerous thing to do and in this case they sell their ideology at the expense of the victims. How totally offensive to their memories! Another example of wokeness destroying quality programming. This series is just an indulgence in patriarchal conspiracy theories not fact. Awful.
